THE 25TH ANNUAL SPRING HOME/GARDEN SHOW RETURNING
TO THE DEL MAR FAIRGROUNDS
MARCH 5-7, 2010
Del Mar, CA, -- For the 25th year, the Spring Home
Garden Show will be returning to the Del Mar Fairgrounds for a 3
day extravaganza of ideas, inspiration, hands-on demonstrations,
educational seminars and one-stop shopping for everything pertaining
to the home and garden. Produced by Westward Expos, the event will
take place on March 5-7, 2010, and will include hundreds of exhibitors
showcasing the newest products and hottest trends for both inside
and outside the home.
Spring is the season for renewal and fresh starts, and the Spring
Home Garden Show will provide visitors with everything they need
to save time and money improving, refreshing or remodeling their
home and outdoor surroundings. From appliances to garden lighting,
from fencing to security systems, from baths to sunrooms---special
pricing will be offered on a wide variety of goods and services available
at the Show and attendees will have the opportunity to arrange for
multiple bids on projects from exhibitors.
More than just a product marketplace, the Show will allow attendees
to meet experts in all areas of landscaping and home improvement,
and gain money-saving advice from hundreds of experts under one roof.
Unlike other similar events, the Spring Home Garden Show will provide
guests with outstanding value by also including a full schedule of
free garden-related seminars throughout the weekend, providing priceless
knowledge that more than offsets the low ticket price. Each day,
the show will feature over 4 hours of professional advice on such
topics as “How to Have A Beautiful, Water Smart Yard”, an information-packed
program including instruction on such things as clearing the yard
of thirsty plants, water-saving landscape design, more efficient
water delivery hardware, information and visuals on recommended plant
materials, and a docent-led walking tour of an impressive display
garden containing many of the suggested plant materials.
In the “Garden Masters” area, visitors will enjoy over 20 theatrically
lit and beautifully displayed gardens created specifically for this
Show by professional landscape architects, designers and contractors.
Emphasizing a “Water Smart” theme, the gardens will illustrate how
to create strikingly attractive gardens, while at the same time conserving
precious water resources. The Spring Home Garden Show will also include
a “Garden Marketplace”, selling hundreds of varieties of plants directly
from local growers, who will be present to give planting tips and
advice. Local plant groups will also be on hand.
The show runs Friday, March 5, 11am-6pm; Saturday, March 6, 10am-6pm;
and Sunday, March 7, 10am-5pm. Admission: $8.00; children under 12
are free. Seniors: only $1 on Friday. After 3 pm daily, all tickets
$5.00. Discount tickets on the website are $6.00. For more information

THE 25TH ANNUAL SPRING HOME/GARDEN SHOW GARDEN MASTERS
COMPETITION ANNOUNCES JUDGES
PANEL
Del Mar, CA, -- One of the greatest celebrations
of spring in San Diego is the Garden Master competition at the Spring
Home/Garden Show, March 5-7, 2010 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Twenty
unique water saving gardens will take center stage for the show and
be judged by an elite judging panel of five qualified professionals.
Westward Expos and the San Diego Horticultural Society announce
the selection of the judging panel for this popular event.
Representing the San Diego Chapter of American Society of Landscape
Architects (ASLA) is the local chapter President, Mr. Jim Taylor,
ASLA, of Lightfoot Planning Group. Another well known local landscape
architect, Mr. Glen Schmidt, ASLA of Glen Schmidt Design also is
on the panel..
California Landscape Contractors Association (CLCA) represents those
who professionally install landscaping. The San Diego Chapter of
CLCA’s incoming president, Ms. Diane Downey of The Yard Fairy will
represent the organization.
Representing Pacific Horticulture Foundation is Mr. Steve Gerisher,
a Board Member for that organization and owner of Larkspur Design.
Finally, this year the selection committee reached out beyond the
horticultural community to invite the Director of Mingei International
Museum, Mr. Robert Sidner.
The panel takes advantage of the expertise of leading professionals
in the areas of landscape architecture, landscape contracting, horticulture
and design. Because of the complexity of the judging over twenty
gardens on multiple attributes, this year’s panel has been increased
from three to five judges.
In addition to “Best of Show” categories, the gardens are evaluated
for a number of specific attributes, including appeal to children,
best water feature, best hardscape, most creative, and more.
Both Spring and Fall Home/Garden Shows are produced by Lawrence
Bame of Westward Expos in San Diego. For more information contact:
